What is career counseling?

What is career counseling?

Career counseling is one-to-one counseling between a person and a professional counselor focused on helping the person apply an understanding of oneself and one’s environment to career decisions and adjustments. It can include learning about one’s own personality and values, learning more about the world of work and particular job characteristics, and how to use these two sources of information to make a career choice. Career counseling can help you pick a major, find an internship, find a new job, transition jobs, get through a job loss, or generally help you learn more about your career preferences.
